Thanks to a strong reputation of being a family club, Brighton and Hove local government granted Palmers the opportunity to share the land at Hove Recreation Ground with Hove Rugby Club in late 2003.
The cricket square is at the North end of the ground, and, after four years of hard work, now has a reputation of one of the best wickets in Brighton and Hove. Fast drainage canals built when the Recreation ground was converted for rugby and cricket use allows play to resume much faster after a typical English summer downpour, and accordingly in the late summer months, there is a bit of spin to be found.
The slight southwards slope means many fast bowlers like to bowl down the slope, although occasionally more swing can be found bowling up the hill on a humid day, due to the ground relative openness.
DIMENSIONS
CLUBHOUSE
When Hove Rugby club were given permission to move from Hove Park to the Recreation ground, Brighton and Hove council were one of many to fund a brand new clubhouse and changing facilities, which Palmers are fortunate to share.
The clubhouse is home to 8 sets of changing rooms, a kitchen, bar, many different offices, and it seems Eddy Sears too, (administration for Hove Rugby club and Palmers) who's continued hard work representing both teams shouldn't go unrewarded.
If there isn't a function on in the bar, after the match, come and join us, as Nigel tells Palmers folklore over a pint of Harvey's.
PROPOSED EXPANSIONS
Planning permission has been granted
to expand the facilities at Hove Rec even more and
fundraising by Hove RFC has begun.

When funds have been raised work will begin on building
a club room onto the side of the current bar, such that players will be able to enjoy
a quiet and private tea even if the main bar is
hired out for functions. Also 2 more changing rooms
are planned on the west side.

These are the approximate match day pitch dimensions. Due to a fast outfield, we can have a large boundary.
